About Us

Equality March

Community for Resilience, Support and Wellbeing (CRSW-Kenya) is a youth-led organization based in Central region with the focus of providing social justice and dignity to young gay, bisexual, trans and those that are living with HIV and identify as sex workers through sexual reproductive health services, economic empowerment and advocating for an equal and just society within the rural areas.

The group has been advocating for a resilience and wellbeing of its community since its inception. CRSW-Kenya has been encouraging diversity and agitating for public dialogue on sex, sexuality, gender and non-conformity. CRSW-Kenya stands in the gap to advocate for the human rights issues and work towards the end of the current inequality rate within our community caused by stigma and discrimination. Young gay bisexual men living with or affect by HIV receive double stigma.

Our Story

The awakening began in 2018 from young queer person’s table banking activities to increase financial support among members. Our mutual and collective effort to promote financial literacy and dependence for the wellbeing of our members transcended to legal registration as a youth group in 2019.

After numerous community activations and engagements with young queer persons through a series of need assessments. The evaluation and findings propelled a need for restructure and revamping of program and scope work. Later it widened its focus after identifying gaps in MSW & PLHIV programming especially within the region. In 2022 the group was legally registered to a community-based organization as Community for resilience support and well-being. Demand to end under representation, injustice and barriers to access quality health services and safe spaces made it a priority for the organization to advance its operations and ensure the young LGBTIQ community and young key population have a space.

Art workshops, sessions and hub spaces for the creation and enjoyment of the arts. We offer incubation programmes, mentorship sessions and mentee meet up to creatively level up economic strengths and capacity for sustainable economy startups and entrepreneurs.  We believe in data driven and evidence-based approaches to our programming to ensure we deliver community centered interventions and work on a slogan: nothing for us without us. Our effort has been centered on participatory processes involving the community around our space, and clear focus on sustainable interventions, development practices and programmatic support.
